When I am not at work I spend my time with my family, my wife – Margret Sigurdardottir – and our children, Andri Snaer, Helga, Aron and Eirikur Anton. Not to forget Naomi, our adorable German Shepherd.
My hobby is music. I am a pianist and I also play the accordion. I compose music and write lyrics and I am an active member in two folk music ensembles in Iceland.
Kólga is a band of four people, violin, upright bass, guitar and accordion. We play and sing folk music from different countries, and also our own music. We have published one CD (Kólga in 2017) and you can listen to it on Spotify. Further information on Kólga can be found on our web site and also on our Facebook page and a few videos of the band are available on YouTube, e.g. a recording from the National Radio in Iceland in 2018 (live recording).
South River Band is a larger ensemble; violin, guitars, upright bass, mandolin, accordion and percussion. We have been playing since year 2000 and we have published six records and we have performed on numerous occations in Iceland, and twice on music festivals in Scandinavia. I compose music and lyrics and publish under my own name or “Thor.” The most recent example is the song “Snorri” – published on Spotify on September 2019. I also published a CD with my music in 2013. The title of this CD was “Gamla hverfið” – or “The old neighborhood” in English.
